Keeping volunteers is not always easy to do. The national average for a person to be on a Volunteer Fire Department is five years so we here in Taylors Bridge feel lucky to have fifteen active firefighters with more than 10 years. The firefighters come from all walks of life. Many live and work in Clinton and/or are local farmers and are available to answer calls day and night. Others work out of town and focus their firefighting efforts on evenings and weekends. One thing they all have in common is a high level of training.
As a group, the volunteers spend every Tuesday evening working on
different firefighting and rescue techniques, including work with
hazardous materials. Fifteen firefighters have received their
Firefighter I & II certification from the North Carolina Fire
and Rescue Commission and two of the volunteers are Emergency Medical
Technicians. Many of the firefighters continue to attend courses at
Sampson Community College and the National Fire Academy and will soon
have their certification. Twelve members are currently Rescue
Technician and the department was RT certified in 2004. In Taylors
Bridge, we are neither too small to teach nor too large to learn. We're
anxious to study, to share, and to improve the service we provide our
citizens and our visitors.
Hopefully, you will never need our emergency services, but if you do, we pledge to respond with a fast, well-trained and courteous team of professionals to your call for help. Let us hear from you and enjoy your visit to our website! Thank you and God bless you. ?> |
