Keith Powell

Deputy Chief Keith Powell has spent almost two decades as a member of the Taylors Bridge Fire Department. He began his career 1988 as a firefighter. In 1992, he was promoted to lieutenant and served in Fire Suppression before going back to Operations for two years. He was promoted to Captain in 1994 where he developed a training program for newly appointed officers. Chief Powell became Deputy Chief in 1999 and was assigned to lead Operations. His current responsibilities include Operations, Procedures, Grants and Special Projects.

Safety Director Tommy Heath began his firefighting career in 1986. He was one of the original firemen and was the first Assistant Chief of the department. Tommy has always served in a leadership role with the department and community. Tommy is also a senior adviser to the Fire Chief regarding legal affairs.

Captain Gene Matthis joined the department in 1991. From the beginning, showed a eagerness to learn firefighting techniques.  Gene received his firefighter I and II certification the quickest than any other firefighter on the department. He earned his way through the ranks, becoming Captain in 1998.

Captain Jay Little began with the department in 2003. He came to us from the Clinton Fire Department where he continues to serve part time. Jay moved into our fire district and brought with him a complete knowledge of fire/rescue operations. He has a impressive resume of certifications and is presently employed by New Hanover Fire Rescue where is is a full time firefighter stationed in Castle Hayne.

Lieutenant Jerry Pope began with the department a couple of months after it was incorporated. Jerry has been Lieutenant for fifteen years and has served in every aspect of the department. In 2001, Jerry received his EMT-D certification and served as Assistant Captain of the Harrells Rescue Squad. Jerry's knowledge in EMS and a maintenance supervisor is why he is assigned his present responsibilities.

Lieutenant Mark Munoz began his firefighting career in 1992. At 22 years of age, he basically grew up a the station. Mark also showed is eagerness to learn and become the best he could be at helping people. He proved this as he rose to become a Captain in 2003. Mark's work load managing a farm kept him from presently being Captain but he agreed to take Lieutenant. He will continue to grow and benefit the community because that is his work ethic.

Bobby Phillips

Bobby started with the department in 2002 as a high school senior. Commanding the ROTC in school, he already had  leadership skills. Bobby works in town with a large manufacturing company and recently completed his Firefighter I & II certification.
