Fire Safety

Operations is the largest division within the Taylors Bridge Fire Department. Under the direction of a Deputy Chief, Operations is tasked with providing the people of Taylors Bridge with a rapid response to and control of a wide-range of emergency situations. Serving in dual roles as both fire fighters and rescue technicians, the men and women are responsible for providing fire suppression and rescue services.

Fire Prevention and Safety are not included within the Operations Division. We feel these are just as important as Operations but should be separate services. Our Captains are designated to focus on these community activities.

All the Pictures below were taken during training exercises.

Structural Fire Protection

Taylors Bridge Fire Department provides the highest level of structural fire protection. With the 1250 gpm pumpers, enhanced water supply systems, and the ongoing training, damage from structure fires are minimized. If an area is known to have a deficient water supply, water tenders are dispatched to the emergency scene. Mutual aid is received and provided by the closest resource with no regard to agency. Clinton, Garland, Harrells and Turkey are some of the fire departments with mutual aid agreements.

Wild Land Fire Protection

As history has taught us, Sampson County has the potential for a major wild land fire. The factors that add up to disaster for an urban-interface fire are all present within Sampson County. Heavy wooded areas, heavy vegetation, narrow roads only lack hot-dry weather and an ignition source. We provide protection structural protected, assisting the North Carolina Forestry Service. Firefighters carry out functions such as hose lays, hand line construction, and assist with backfires.

Vehicle Extrication

Vehicle extrication is the art and science of removing a vehicle from around an injured person.  The Taylors Bridge Fire Department attributes its success in vehicle extrication to both frequent training and quality equipment.  The Taylors Bridge Fire Department uses gasoline powered-hydraulic extrication equipment consisting of pumps, spreaders, rams and combination tools.  With spreading forces in excess of 24,000 pounds, these special hydraulic tools provide the Fire Department with the technology to meet the challenge.

ATV Search & Rescue

Training is underway at this time. Presently, there is no ATV Rescue provided in our region. Most of this type of rescue is provided by our fellow fire departments in the mountains of North Carolina.
