The Board of Directors of the Taylors Bridge Fire Department, Inc., sets policy that is implemented by staff. The Board leads the Fire Department by expressing its vision and values through its policies and by inspiring and empowering Firefighters to become partners in the Fire and Life Safety System. The Board exercises leadership by creating a sense of community with compassion and understanding, coupled with the highest standards of conduct.


The Board is active with other political bodies to achieve collective action to best serve our citizens. The Board of directors takes advantage of and creates opportunities to make a difference for the citizens they serve.


Ronald Peterson, President

Director Peterson is self employed as operator and owner of Peterson Family Farms. He has served as a Board Member since his election in 1986. Mr. Peterson is one of the original Board members of the corporation.

Tommy Heath, Vice President

Director Heath is Director of Operations at Sampson Regional Medical Center and department Safety Officer. He was elected in November 1998. Mr. Heath has served in many officer positions of the department. He was the first Assistant Chief when the department was formed.


Jerry Todd, Treasurer

Director Todd is a business manager with Triple “T” Trucking. He has served as a Board Member since his election in 1992. Mr. Todd was an independent business owner and takes it upon himself to make sure our fleet is in good condition.


Gene Matthis, Secretary


Director Matthis is self employed farming and livestock production.
Mr. Matthis joined the fire department in 1991 and
is Fire Captain of the department. He was elected a board member of the corporation in November 2001.  

Helen Ballance

Director Ballance is retired from the Sampson County School System. She is the first lady to serve as Director and was elected in November 2001. She has always been a part of the department, having two sons that have served the community with great respect.


Keith Powell

Director Powell is farm Manager for Garland Farming and is Deputy Chief of the department. Mr. Powell was elected a board member of the corporation in November 2001. He joined the department in 1987 and has served at each officer rank through the years.


Ronnie Williams

Director Williams is farm Manager for Warren Farming. Mr. Williams is one of the founding members of the department and has served since 1986, holding several positions with the corporation and fire department. He continues to be instrumental in the department's future.
